Toothache Pain And Abscessed Tooth

So we’ve determined that your toothache is an abscessed tooth.  So what’s the cause of all of this pain that you are experiencing?  Well, first off, when a tooth is abscessed, it’s a result of the tooth itself decaying because of trauma to the tooth, whether it is a cavity that you have yet to seek dental treatment for, or a broken/chipped tooth.

Dental Health : Dangers of an Abscessed Tooth

Now when part of your tooth is chipped or missing, in the case of having a cavity, this opening allows for bacteria to enter and infect the center of the tooth and then the infection spreads from the root to the bones that support the tooth.  The infection is comprised of dead tissues, live and dead bacteria and white blood cells.  The infection itself is visible as it forms a pus-filled pocket inside your mouth on your gums.

Abscessed teeth are caused by an abundance of bacteria in your mouth that arises from not receiving the appropriate dental care. Appropriate dental care includes brushing your teeth at least twice a day, as well as flossing daily. An unhealthy diet of sugary snacks and carbohydrates can also form bacteria which can get into the opening in or between your teeth and form a dental abscess.
